Dr Jacinta Vu

Dr Jacinta Vu graduated from the University of Western Australia with a Bachelor of Dental Science (Honours) in 2001, and was awarded the Ian G Thorburn Prize for the most outstanding student in the subject of General Medicine in 2000. Jacinta practiced general dentistry for several years before embarking on specialist training in Oral Medicine, graduating from the University of Sydney with a Doctor of Clinical Dentistry (Oral Medicine/Oral Pathology) in 2013. During training, Jacinta had extensive exposure to hospital-based Oral Medicine, with a focus on the management of mucocutaneous conditions including graft-versus-host-disease and autoimmune vesiculobullous diseases. Jacinta has also undertaken further study in orofacial pain and temporomandibular disorders.
She is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons (General Dental Practice) and also holds a Membership in the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons in Oral Medicine. She is a member of the Australian Dental Association and the Oral Medicine Academy of Australasia. Jacinta is a council member of the Dental Specialists Society of WA.
Jacinta is a Fellow of the Pierre Fauchard Academy for her contributions to the dental profession. In particular, Jacinta is involved with public service for the general community, having been the Treasurer and subsequently the President of the Women in Dentistry Society (WA). She is also volunteers as the Clinical Coordinator for Healing Smiles, the Women in Dentistry Society’s program that provides pro-bono dental care for survivors of domestic violence.
Jacinta has been a Clinical Senior Lecturer in Oral Medicine at the University of Western Australia since 2016, and undertakes both clinical and didactic teaching. She has presented at continuing education courses nationally, both for dentists as well as medical practitioners. Jacinta has published abstracts and articles in peer-reviewed journals, as well as being an invited peer-reviewer. Her research interests include potentially malignant disorders and the systemic management of vesiculobullous diseases.
Jacinta’s private practice involves all aspects of Oral Medicine, including Oral Mucosal Diseases, Orofacial Pain, and Oral Appliance Therapy for Snoring and Sleep Apnoea.
