Dr. Costa brings a wealth of experience to our practice, driven by his deep passion for learning, teaching, and enhancing the quality of life for individuals and communities. With a distinguished career in Oral Medicine spanning three decades across Brazil, Canada, and New Zealand, Dr. Costa's dedication to improving the lives of those affected by oral diseases is evident in his numerous achievements, including his success in the National Dental Specialties Board of Canada and the Royal College of Dentists of Canada exams.

Dr. Costa’s journey in Oral Medicine began early in his career, with his initial research focusing on the oral health impacts of leprosy. His work has made significant contributions to the field and demonstrated his unwavering commitment to advancing oral health care. Throughout his career, Dr. Costa has consistently delivered exceptional results while working within multidisciplinary teams, providing care across inpatients, outpatients, and intensive care settings, all while maintaining the highest ethical and professional standards.

In Brazil, Dr. Costa was instrumental in shaping health policies, including coordinating a statewide oral cancer inquiry and contributing to the creation of the National Oral Medicine Care Program. His time in Canada further honed his scientific and clinical expertise, as he pursued an MSc in Biomedical Sciences at the Université de Montréal, where he focused on oral histology and embryology, contributing to important research in disease prevention and osseous metabolism. His academic achievements continued with a third MSc in Medical Sciences at the University of Alberta, where he focused on Sjogren’s Syndrome, a complex autoimmune disease. His findings were published in a prestigious rheumatology journal, underscoring his commitment to advancing the field of Oral Medicine.

Dr. Costa also brings extensive training in orofacial pain and temporomandibular disorders, which he gained during his residency. With over twenty years of specialized clinical practice, Dr. Costa is highly skilled in diagnosing and treating a wide range of oral diseases, including infectious and neoplastic conditions, autoimmune disorders, chronic pain, and more. His strong community engagement, leadership in civil society, and dedication to public health further enhance the value he brings to our practice.
